Baseball

I'm teaching Aiden how to spit. Not nasty spit, but sunflower seeds. This is what I love about being a mom. When they think I am amazing because I can spit seeds so far. He laughs and laughs at me. It's probably 65 degrees outside and I can't sit in the park tonight. When I had strep throat last week I let Aiden share my Dr. Pepper. (I didn't know I was sick yet) so now he has strep and pink eye. It's cool though. Now I saved $3 and actually get to watch the game. And Aiden thinks I am cool. Landon just hit a triple and then scored on the next hit. He's quite the little player. He stands with his bat high over his head so he can make sure the ball is in the "zone" before he swings. Then he has this MLB -tap-the-plate-adjust-his-stance thing he does before his first swing. He does everything his dad has told him to do.

Aiden playing baseball on the other hand, is like watching a rodeo where the little kids are riding the sheep. They are hanging on for dear life hoping not to fall off in the sheer chaos of it all. I know he won't remember playing this first year but we will. How they all run for the ball no matter where it's hit. How they carry the bat when they run to first and how they stop running a couple of steps before they hit the bag. Josh standing behind the fence near home plate trying to teach tiny boys how to be a catcher. Good good stuff. We need to remember this.
